The Witcher series adds two popular witchers to season 2 cast

THE WITCHER | MAIN TRAILER | NETFLIX

Geralt of Rivia won’t be the only monster-hunter prowling the Continent in season 2 of The Witcher. The Netflix series has reportedly cast two more witchers for the second season: Lambert and Coën.

Lambert, a fan-favorite character who played a prominent role in both The Witcher novels and the video game series, will be played by Peaky Blinders and The Bastard Executioner actor Paul Bullion.

As Witcher news outlet Redanian Intelligence points out, the often dour Lambert — who hails from the same School of the Wolf where Geralt was trained — holds the distinction of being the only witcher Geralt saw fit to write a limerick about.

Joining Bullion in the season 2 cast will be Strike Back actor Yasen Atour, who will portray the witcher named Coën. A lesser-known witcher hailing from the School of the Griffin, Coën played an important role in Ciri’s formative years in The Witcher novels, and will likely fill a similar role in the Netflix series.

The casting of Lambert and Coën suggests that the TV series could indeed be following the timeline of the books and games, with Geralt bringing Ciri — the orphaned granddaughter of Queen Calanthe — to the School of the Wolf’s fortress, Kaer Morhen. In the novels, both Lambert and Coën spent a winter at Kaer Morhen with Geralt and Ciri.

Season 2 of The Witcher is currently filming, and is expected to premiere in 2021. The series is adapted from author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, which also inspired a hit video game series, and after premiering on the streaming service in December 2019, the show quickly became one of the most popular streaming series in the world.

The series follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), one of the few remaining witchers trained to hunt monsters throughout the land. After his destiny becomes intertwined with that of the powerful sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and the orphaned princess Ciri (Freya Allan), he finds himself at the center of a conflict that could change the course of the world.

There’s currently no official premiere date for season 2 of The Witcher, but Netflix has indicated that the series will return at some point in 2021.

David S. Goyer and the Foundation cast on season 2 of the Apple TV+ sci-fi show
Lee Pace stares into the distance while another man looks at him in Foundation.

David S. Goyer told his writers before starting work on season 2 of Foundation that "the training wheels are off." Foundation, the sci-fi drama co-created by Goyer and Josh Friedman that's based on Isaac Asimov's book series, returns to Apple TV+ for its second season on July 14. With so much exposition and worldbuilding in season 1, Goyer, the showrunner on Foundation, and his team were happy to "dive right in and start the story" to begin season 2.

It has been two years since the season 1 finale, but more than a century has passed in the series' timeline. The impending Second Crisis is on the horizon, with the galaxy's fate in the hands of "crucial individuals" that transcend time and space. Foundation stars Jared Harris as Hari Seldon, Lee Pace as Brother Day, Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick, Leah Harvey as Salvor Hardin, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk, and Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn.

Extraction 2 is the most popular Netflix movie right now. Here’s why you should watch it
Chris Hemsworth protects a woman from two men in Extraction 2.

In April 2020, most of the world was stuck inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Movie theaters were closed, causing every major studio to push back their films to later dates, so streaming services were one of the few places to find new movies. One of those streamers was Netflix, which released the action thriller Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth on April 24, 2020. Hemsworth stars as Tyler Rake, a former special ops agent- turned-elite mercenary who must rescue the son of an Indian drug lord. Extraction was a huge hit with audiences and became Netflix's most-watched original film up to that point.

Three years later, Tyler Rake is back with a new mission in the sequel Extraction 2. After surviving the events at the end of Extraction, including a gunshot to the neck, Tyler retires to a secluded cabin in Austria. While recovering from his injuries, Tyler is recruited by a mysterious stranger (Idris Elba) for another adventure -- and this one is personal. Tyler is tasked with freeing his ex-wife's sister, Ketevan (Tinatin Dalakishvili), and her two children from a Georgian prison. The sequel packs an even bigger and better punch, with more fantastic action sequences. Here are three reasons why Extraction 2 should be the next movie in your queue.
1. Extraction 2 has an amazing 21-minute, one-take action sequence
