Man on the Inside (2024-)

A Man on the Inside | Official Trailer | Netflix

Ted Danson is one of the most charismatic TV stars of all time, and Man on the Inside takes full advantage of that charisma. The series tells the story of a retired professor who finds a new purpose when he’s hired to go undercover inside a nursing home. Because of its focus on the inner lives of the elderly, Man on the Inside is the perfect combination of gentle and revelatory.

There are very few TV shows that are honest about what it’s like to grow old and move into a nursing home, but Man on the Inside does just that without feeling at all heavy-handed.

You can watch Man on the Inside on Netflix.

Mr. McMahon (2024)

Mr. McMahon | Official Trailer | Netflix

Vince McMahon’s life story might feel like a fairly obscure subsection of American history, but in our current political moment, the story of WWE’s founder has more resonance than you might expect. This docuseries takes you through McMahon’s story, including the many controversies that have long swirled around the organization.

Professional wrestling is not the cultural force that it once was, but McMahon’s sensibility has infused many other aspects of American culture, so much so that you might be surprised by all the ways that McMahon’s influence has spread.

You can watch Mr. McMahon on Netflix.

Sprint (2024)

Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans Part 2 | Official Trailer | Netflix

Another docuseries, Sprint was perfectly timed to the 2024 Olympics, but is still worth watching a few months later. Among the sprinters this documentary follows are two of the biggest stars of the 2024 Games, Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson. On the whole, the series is a reminder of all the quiet work these athletes do to show up on the biggest stage and show us everything they’ve got.

Sprinting races, in particular, are decided by the slimmest possible margins. Lyles and Richardson didn’t have perfect Olympics, but their massive personalities are a reminder that we should pay much more attention to the world of track & field than we do.

You can watch Sprint on Netflix.

Two men in suits stand next to each other in The Firm.

Whoever said movie theaters are dead didn't take into account Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks to Moana 2, Wicked, and Gladiator II, the five-day holiday weekend saw movies pull in $420 million at the domestic box office. That shattered the previous record of 2018's $315.6 million. Moana 2 alone grossed $225 million, the new benchmark for the Thanksgiving holiday.

All three movies should still do great business this weekend. If you've seen those movies and want to stay home, sign up for a FAST service — that stands for free ad-supported television. Thousands of movies are available to stream for free on these services. If you're looking for suggestions, check out our write-ups below about a teen rom-com, a legal thriller, and an underdog story.

Goodbye, Thanksgiving, and hello, Christmas. The turkeys have been swapped out for mistletoe as the holiday season heats up. On Netflix, a special holiday-curated selection of movies and TV shows lives under the "Start Your Holidays Here" section. For this article, we're turning our attention toward holiday romances. Rom-coms are the perfect movies to enjoy with a loved one. Netflix has started to boost its holiday rom-com slate, similar to the cheesy Christmas movies you'd find on the Hallmark Channel. If you need a suggestion, consider watching one of these three rom-coms, including a dance-focused saga, a fun encounter with Lindsay Lohan, and a New York City adventure.
