In 2016, Dan Fogelman introduced the world to the Big Three in This Is Us. The ensemble series opens with Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) celebrating his 36th birthday. His wife, Rebecca (Mandy Moore), goes into labor with triplets. Meanwhile, Kate (Chrissy Metz) is celebrating her birthday at a support group for people trying to lose weight. Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate’s brother, is a successful actor searching for meaning in his life.

Then there’s Randall (Sterling K. Brown), a successful businessman working to raise his two daughters with his wife, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson). These people are connected, but you’ll need to watch the pilot for more answers. Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) is an MI5 analyst who craves action. Unfortunately, Eve’s thrill-seeking attitude leads to a witness dying under her watch, leading to her firing from MI5. However, Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw), head of the Russia Section of MI6, appreciates Eve’s tenacity and invites her to work in their undercover division. Carolyn needs Eve’s help tracking Villanelle (Jodie Comer), a ruthless assassin who works for a secret organization called The Twelve.

Villanelle has executed many high-profile murders across Europe, and Carolyn has been tasked with bringing her down. Eve becomes obsessed with finding Villanelle, so much so that it becomes an attraction. Surprisingly, Villanelle admires Eve for her resilience. Based on the Villanelle novel series by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve is a sexy, addictive cat-and-mouse thriller with two standout performances by Oh and Comer.

Tires (2024-)

Netflix

Is there a hotter comedian in Hollywood than Shane Gillis? After being fired from Saturday Night Live, Gillis hit the stand-up scene, touring all over America and building a following. Gillis then bet on himself and created Tires, a comedy series he co-created with Steve Gerben and John McKeever. The gamble paid off, as Netflix bought the series for distribution.

Tires follows the employees at the auto-repair chain, “Valley Forge Automotive Center.” Will (Gerben), the manager of Valley Forge, is always on edge as he fights to turn the business around. What doesn’t help Will’s anxiety is his vile cousin, Shane (Gillis). Tires emphasizes laughs over plot, so fans looking for multiple hilarious moments will enjoy Gillis’ sitcom.

Prison Break (2005-2017)
Prison Break - Season 1 Trailer
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess the plot of a show named Prison Break. There's an escape attempt from jail, but the details before and after the break make this crime drama extremely entertaining. After being wrongfully accused of murder, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is sent to Death Row. Lincoln's brother, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), devises a plan to save his brother.
Michael's plan does not involve the legal system. Michael commits a crime and gets incarcerated at the same prison as Lincoln. With the two brothers under the same roof, they plan their escape. The more the brothers explore the case, the more they learn about the conspiracy to frame Lincoln. With a Prison Break reboot set in the same universe in development, there's no better time to start a rewatch than now.

Needing a second act, Spencer begins working as a financial manager for current NFL players.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)

How many actors would be willing to play fictionalized versions of themselves? Less than 10? Maybe? No A-listers are taking that risk. Thankfully, Nicolas Cage is a true showman and game for anything. In Tom Gormican's The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Cage plays "Nick Cage," a struggling actor whose life continues to fall apart as he exits the spotlight.
After failing to secure a role, Nick accepts an offer of $1 million to meet Javi Gutiérrez (Pedro Pascal), a billionaire celebrating his birthday in Majorca. While in Spain, the CIA recruits Nick to investigate Javi and see if he's involved with the kidnapping of a politician's daughter. It's Nicolas Cage playing fictionalized Nicolas Cage who decides to be a hero for the CIA – need I say more?
