Gomi

Gomi has an unusual pitch for anyone tired of replacing their phone case every time they upgrade their iPhone. Instead of throwing the old one away, the company wants you to send it back. Gomi will melt the case down and remake it into a new one that fits your next phone, using the same recycled plastic rather than starting over with new materials.

Built to be reused, not replaced

The product is called the Forever Phone Case, and it is built around the idea that a phone case should last longer than the phone itself. Each case is handmade in Brighton, UK, using 100% recycled plastic, which means no two cases look exactly the same.

When you are ready for a new device or simply want a refresh, Gomi reshapes the material into another case or even into a different Gomi product, keeping the plastic in use instead of sending it to landfill.

The Forever Phone Case is available to preorder now for £55 (around $74), ahead of its January 2026 release. If you upgrade your phone later, Gomi charges £20 (around $27) to remold the case to fit the new model.

Gomi is also giving buyers flexibility around features. You can also choose whether to add MagSafe compatibility for an extra cost. The MagSafe option adds a ring of magnets inside the case so chargers, wallets, and docks snap into proper alignment. If you do not use MagSafe accessories, you can skip it.

Despite the focus on sustainability, Gomi says protection has not been compromised. The case supports wireless charging and has gone through military-grade drop testing to withstand accidental drops. It also has raised edges to protect both the screen and camera.

There is no real end-of-life for the case. Gomi will always take it back and reuse the material, even if you do not want another phone case. The company also offers a 30-day return policy if it does not meet your expectations.

The Forever Phone Case lands in a crowded market filled with protective iPhone cases, iPhone 16 case options, and iPhone 17 case designs, alongside a quirky case for iPhone 17 Pro with selfie support. What sets Gomi apart is not just protection or design, but the idea that a case does not have to be disposable every time Apple releases a new iPhone.

Acti just turned your smartphone keyboard into an AI assistant
One keyboard that types your words and does your errands. This might be the upgrade your thumbs have been waiting for.
Acti keyboard open on iPhone

Your smartphone’s keyboard is the thing you interact with the most, and yet, it has largely remained the same since it was introduced two decades ago. Yes, it has become better at understanding our typing habits and predicting text, but its function has largely remained unchanged.

A Singapore startup called Acti looked at the keyboard and the large space it occupies on your smartphone and asked a fair question. Why not make it actually do things? After seeing its keyboard in action, I think the idea has legs.

Finding photos is so much easier with Siri AI in iOS 27 that I no longer scroll
Natural language photo search in iOS 27 is the kind of feature that quietly becomes essential.
Electronics, Phone, Mobile Phone

My camera roll has crossed 8,000 photos, and it got there by capturing random moments (only to forget them later). The problem, however, starts when someone asks me to share something specific. It could be their portrait from last weekend or the food pictures they snapped using my phone.

Finding those pictures usually means scrolling through my seemingly endless camera roll. If the photo is a month or two old, I end up scrolling past hundreds of other images to find it, and that gets old fast.
