Apple might serve a whole new color palette atop the iPhone 18 Pro lineup

Love the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange? Apple’s next Pro lineup might turn things up a notch, and if you’re a fan of subtle shades, you may want to brace yourself.

What’s happened? With the iPhone 17 Pro models, Apple broke its years-long tradition of using a minimal color palette. However, a new rumor suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro could also be available in rather bold and unique colors.

  • The Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, in a Weibo post, claims that the iPhone 18 Pro could be offered in brown, purple, and burgundy (translated via Google Translate). While these colors may not be as eye-catching as Cosmic Orange, they would certainly add more personality to the devices.
  • Although the tipster didn’t share any images, we can imagine Apple using the deep but rich shades of these colors, potentially with a dual-tone back panel featuring textured aluminum unibody and a matte-finish glass center, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro.
  • Furthermore, the company might once again skip a black iPhone 18 Pro model next year, just as it did this year.

Why is this important? With the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, Apple introduced one of the most vibrant and polarizing colors ever seen on an iPhone: Cosmic Orange. While some users love it for its bright, attention-grabbing hue, others find it too loud.

  • If you’re an early adopter of the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange finish and appreciate how Apple experimented with a truly bold color, some even wilder shades could be waiting for you in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
  • On the other hand, if you’re on the opposite end of the spectrum, you might not be thrilled about these rumored colors and end up choosing the least striking option. For fans of the classic black or Space Gray finish, this might come as disappointing news.

Why should I care? There’s a good chance Apple will use these rumored colors to make the iPhone 18 Pro lineup stand out even more. However, it’s still very early in the product cycle; only a few months have passed since the iPhone 17 launch. The tipster may be referring to early prototype colors, and Apple might explore other options later in development. For now, it’s best to take this rumor with a grain of salt and wait for additional sources to corroborate it.
