Games are an integral part of the Apple ecosystem — look no further than Apple Arcade and the abundance of iPhone games if you have any doubts. Sure, many games work perfectly well on the iPhone or iPad touchscreen, but some with more advanced interfaces and deep console-like gameplay cry out for more flexible controls.

Apple came to the rescue as far back as iOS 7, released in June of 2013, with one feature that flew under the radar: The addition of an MFi game controller SDK, which allowed third-party developers to create external game controllers compatible with iOS devices. This functionality has evolved to incorporate iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and Mac OS.

While Apple doesn’t make its own branded gamepad, third parties jumped in to pick up the slack. While many game controllers can do double duty for gamers who own Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or PlayStation systems, our roundup of the best game controllers focuses on hardware that works best on your iOS device.

Your 15-minute reading habit could now earn you money in Singapore
Your endless scrolling habit finally has some financial competition.
Tap the top of the screen of your Kindle to bring up the menu interface.

I have plenty of apps on my phone reminding me to drink water, stand up, exercise, and stop staring at the screen. Singapore is taking a slightly different approach: instead of another reminder telling people what to do, it's adding a reward. The country has launched a new initiative designed to turn reading into a daily habit. Spend at least 15 minutes reading, record the session through the government's platform, and you'll receive 20 virtual coins.

Collect 1,000 of them, and you can exchange them for S$ 1, or roughly 80 cents in the US. Since only one reading session counts each day, reaching that first dollar takes 50 days. Nobody is getting rich here, obviously. But that's what makes the idea interesting. The cash functions more like the achievement badge or daily streak you'd find in an app, except this one tries to pull your attention away from the screen.

Galaxy S26 owners, the long One UI 9 wait is over
After eight betas, Galaxy S26 is getting the Android 17 update
Samsung Galaxy S26

Galaxy S26 owners have watched Samsung release beta after beta, launch newer phones with finished software, and even start testing that same update on last year's flagships. Thankfully, their turn has finally arrived. Samsung has begun rolling out the stable Android 17-based One UI 9 update to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, with the rollout starting in South Korea.

Reports from users indicate that beta participants are among the first to receive the finished build, identified by firmware ending in BZI6. Wider availability should follow in phases, as Samsung typically varies rollout timing by region and carrier.

Samsung’s budget Galaxy A18 will stay updated until 2032—if you can live without 5G
Galaxy A18 gets long software support, but Samsung made one strange omission
Samsung Galaxy A18 4G

Samsung has quietly launched another inexpensive Galaxy phone, and its most impressive specification has nothing to do with the processor, camera, or display. The Galaxy A18 will receive six generations of operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates, giving Samsung’s latest affordable phone an unusually long software runway.

It also ships with Android 17-based One UI 9 out of the box. While this sounds like a great deal for users who only upgrade after a couple of years, Samsung has only launched the 4G version right now.
