Google’s AirDrop-style feature is coming to more Androids, but your older Galaxy probably didn’t make the list

Android phones are getting AirDrop support, just not all at once

Android’s long-awaited AirDrop rollout is finally expanding beyond Google’s own phones and Samsung’s latest flagships. Although the rollout is starting with a fairly exclusive-looking list. Google has now listed the devices that support AirDrop-style sharing, along with models scheduled to get the feature later. So the gap between the Apple ecosystem and Android is getting a little smaller.

Which Android phones are getting AirDrop support

According to the list confirmed by Google, AirDrop support is currently available on the following devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S26 series
  • Google Pixel 10 series
  • Google Pixel 9 series
  • Google Pixel 8a
  • Oppo Find X9 series
  • Oppo Find N6
  • Vivo X300 Ultra

Samsung was among the first wave of Android phones to receive AirDrop support after Google’s latest Pixel lineup. If you own a Galaxy S26 model, you’re covered. But Galaxy S25 series or foldable users will still have to wait.

These phones will receive support later on

Google’s “coming soon” list includes a much wider set of Android flagships, especially from Samsung.

Coming soon:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S24 series
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
  • Oppo Find X8 series
  • OnePlus 15
  • Honor Magic V6
  • Honor Magic 8 Pro

The list is interesting because it shows Google and its Android partners are prioritizing premium phones first. The Galaxy S24 and S25 lineups are obvious additions, while support for Samsung’s recent foldables makes sense given how many of those devices sit in the flagship price bracket. But outside of this, only three other Chinese brands are getting support for now.

There’s no mention of older Galaxy S-series phones, FE models, midrange A-series phones (even though Samsung has plans for it), or older Z Fold and Z Flip models. That doesn’t necessarily mean they will never get support, but they’re not part of Google’s listed rollout right now.

Better quality, smaller file size, and no status bar. iOS 27's video frame feature beats screenshots on every count.

If you've ever been on vacation and chose to record video instead of taking photos only to avoid missing the fun moments, thinking you’d pause and take screenshots later, you might have ended up questioning your decision later.

You see, the process involves multiple steps, starting from hunting for the right frame, pausing, and taking a screenshot. If it doesn’t look good, you go back to the video, pause somewhere else, and try taking another screenshot. You see where I’m going with this?
