Samsung’s second Unpacked event of 2026 is shaping up to be its biggest product showcase yet, with leaks pointing to three distinct foldable devices, new smartwatches, and quite possibly Galaxy smart glasses. The company has confirmed the event itself, but hasn’t said a word about the actual devices. However, the leak trail has grown detailed enough to sketch out most of what’s coming.

When and where the event is happening

Samsung has officially confirmed Galaxy Unpacked for July 22 in London, and you can catch it live at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT on Samsung’s website, YouTube channel, and Samsung Newsroom. Samsung has also opened registrations for the event, offering store credit toward purchases ahead of pre-orders.

The event’s tagline, “A New Shape Unfolds,” seems to hint at the shorter, wider design rumored for one of Samsung’s upcoming foldables. And with the date locked in, the real question now is what Samsung actually plans to show off.

A wider foldable lineup

The headline change this year is that Samsung could split its premium foldable offering into two distinct phones instead of one. Reports point to a wider, shorter Galaxy Z Fold 8 that could fix one of the lineup’s longest-running complaints, sitting alongside a more traditional model that may carry the Ultra name. These two will be joined by the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which is widely expected to be a more modest refresh, though it may feature an Exynos chip instead of a Snapdragon processor if recent leaks hold true.

Color and storage details have also leaked for the Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8, suggesting a wider range of finishes than in previous generations. Leaks also suggest a price increase across the board, though there’s no confirmation from Samsung yet.

New watches and smart glasses may join the stage

Samsung is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 alongside the foldables, though neither device has been confirmed. Design-wise, both watches are rumored to stick close to their predecessors, but the Ultra model could pack a brighter display and a substantially bigger battery. A pricing leak suggests the entire Galaxy Watch lineup could cost more compared to last year’s models.

Samsung may also use the event to formally introduce its long-rumored smart glasses. A recent leak of the companion app gave us an early look at how the glasses might work. However, it’s difficult to say whether the company will launch the glasses alongside its new foldables or just give an early preview at this point.

Between the foldable lineup, new watches, and a possible smart glasses debut, this could end up being one of Samsung’s more packed Unpacked events in recent memory. None of it is confirmed beyond the date and location yet, so treat the specifics as a preview rather than confirmation. We’ll be covering the event live on July 22, so check back for the official details as soon as Samsung takes the stage.

Budget smartphones are getting squeezed, and AI is one reason why

For years, smartphone buyers have had it pretty good. Even budget phones now offer fast processors, high-refresh-rate displays, and cameras that would've seemed flagship-worthy just a few years ago. But that trend may be about to slow down, and AI is playing a big role.

According to a new report from Omdia, global shipments of smartphones priced below $400 are expected to decline by more than 22% in 2026, largely because the cost of DRAM and NAND memory continues to rise. As AI features demand more memory across the industry, manufacturers are finding it increasingly difficult to build capable budget phones without sacrificing their already razor-thin margins.
