Seriously, if Apple’s foldable slips again to 2027, Samsung gets another whole year to tighten its grip and show everyone what a truly premium foldable phone looks like, according to this website.
So, you know how everyone’s been waiting for Apple to finally release a foldable iPhone? Well, it looks like we might have to wait even longer – maybe until 2027.
Word on the street is that Apple’s being, well, Apple about it. They want it to be absolutely perfect before they show it to us. Apparently, they’re really struggling with the hinge – that crucial part that lets the phone bend. They’re using some fancy new laser technique to make it super strong and hopefully get rid of that annoying crease you see on other foldables. But this high-tech process seems to be slowing things way down.
Even if they do manage to launch it in 2026 like originally planned, analysts think they’ll only be able to make a handful – maybe 5 to 7 million a year, which is way less than they first thought.
And that huge foldable iPad everyone was dreaming about? That’s looking even further off, possibly 2029 or later. They’re reportedly having a tough time making it light enough; the current prototype is apparently as heavy as a MacBook! Yikes. Some people are even wondering if Apple might just scrap that idea altogether.

Samsung’s Just Cruising Ahead
While Apple is busy perfecting things, Samsung is just… dominating. They basically invented this whole foldable category back in 2019, and they haven’t stopped improving. Their latest Z Fold7 and Flip7 phones are getting props for having better hinges and being tougher than ever.
And they’re not slowing down. Rumor has it the Z Fold8 next year will have a similar laser-made hinge to Apple’s, plus a bigger battery and maybe even bring back the S Pen stylus. Samsung keeps pumping out new foldables, getting them into more stores around the world, and basically cementing their spot as the king of the hill.
Yeah, their market share dipped a bit recently because Huawei and Motorola have stepped up their game, but everyone expects Samsung to bounce right back, especially as they get ready for Apple to finally enter the race.
Is Apple Being Smart or Just Slow?
Look, Apple taking its time could mean we get a really polished, amazing foldable iPhone eventually. One that doesn’t feel like a first-gen experiment.
But – they risk showing up way too late to the party. Samsung has had years to figure this stuff out, build customer loyalty, and get really good at making these things. By the time Apple arrives, will anyone still care, or will Samsung be too far ahead?
Then again, if Apple does launch a foldable that just blows everyone away with its design and how smoothly it works, maybe the wait will be worth it for the die-hard Apple fans. Assuming they haven’t gotten tired of waiting by then!
