What’s happened? A new leak suggests that Samsung could host its next Galaxy Unpacked event a month later than usual.

  • The company launched the previous two generations of its flagship Galaxy S series devices toward the end of January.
  • However, a new report from South Korean outlet Money Today claims that Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S26 series on February 25 at an event in San Francisco.
  • The report cites an unnamed Samsung official as the source, who added, “Since San Francisco has emerged as a center of AI (artificial intelligence) technology, it is the optimal location for Samsung, which has ushered in the ‘AI smartphone’ era, to hold the event.”

Why is this important? The shift in Samsung’s launch schedule may be linked to the rumored lineup changes reported in recent leaks.

  • Samsung allegedly plans to drop the Edge model in the upcoming lineup and reintroduce the Plus variant under a new name. The company also appears to be working on another, even thinner flagship that could debut later in the year.
  • The delay could also stem from Samsung’s plan to bring back Exynos variants across all Galaxy S26 series models.

Why should I care? If you’ve been eagerly waiting to get your hands on one of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series devices, you may have to wait a bit longer.

  • Since Samsung usually opens pre-orders right after its Unpacked events and ships devices a few weeks later, the Galaxy S26 lineup likely won’t hit the shelves until early March.
  • The delay could also push back the rollout of Samsung’s next major One UI update for older Galaxy devices, as the company typically debuts the update alongside its latest flagship lineup.

What’s next? There’s still no official word from Samsung regarding the February 25 launch date or San Francisco location. Given that we’re still a few months away from the big reveal, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt. We expect Samsung to make an official announcement sometime early next year.
