Motorola’s new budget phone lasts “over two days” on a charge, but you can’t buy it

The Moto G57 Power packs a 7,000 mAh battery, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip, and Android 16, but it’s skipping the U.S. for now.

What’s happened? Lenovo-owned smartphone brand Motorola is on a launch spree, but it’s the €279 Moto G57 Power that has caught my attention, especially because of its massive 7,000 mAh battery.

  • First and foremost, the phone features a 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
  • Under the hood, it runs on Qualcomm’s latest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 (4nm), paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
  • Out of the box, the smartphone runs Android 16, Google’s latest mobile operating system. For reference, the recently launched Moto G67 Power in India still runs on Android 15.

Why is this important? Budget smartphone buyers typically prioritize essentials, calling, texting, browsing, streaming, and occasional gaming or photography.

  • The Moto G57 Power can handle all that — and for longer than most mid-range Android phones — thanks to its 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon (high-energy density) battery that supports 30W TurboPower wired charging.
  • While Motorola claims the phone can last “over two days on a single charge,” real-world results will likely vary. Still, that’s impressive endurance for this price range.
  • Motorola also claims the battery will retain 80% of its health after 1,000 charge cycles, which boosts confidence in the longevity of its battery technology.
  • The Moto G57 Power is Motorola’s third smartphone to feature a 7,000 mAh cell, following the Moto G06 Power and Moto G67 Power — neither of which is available in the United States.

Why should I care? Beyond the massive battery, the Moto G57 Power offers solid hardware for the price. It packs a 50MP (f/1.8) primary camera for detailed portraits, an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor, and an 8MP (f/2.2) selfie camera, all capable of recording 4K videos at 30 fps.

  • Connectivity features include 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port.
  • For €279, these are impressive specs, particularly for buyers who value battery life and durability over premium display tech or high-end performance.
  • The phone also carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance and meets MIL-STD-810H standards, meaning it’s built to handle tougher conditions.

OK, what’s next? The bad news: the Moto G57 Power isn’t available in the United States yet. For now, it’s limited to Europe, priced at €279 (around $320 USD).

  • While the odds of a U.S. release are slim, Motorola’s global strategy could influence the upcoming Moto G Power (2026) — expected to arrive in the U.S. by January 2026.
  • Alongside the G57 Power, Motorola also launched the Moto G57, which features a smaller 5,200 mAh battery and retails for €249.

America’s 250th anniversary time capsule includes an iPhone 17 Pro Max
Your iPhone could become a museum piece sooner than you think

The United States has sealed a massive time capsule to mark its 250th anniversary, and among the dozens of artifacts chosen to represent modern America is one item almost everyone today would recognize: an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The stainless steel capsule, weighing roughly 900 pounds (about 400kg), was buried in Philadelphia as part of the country's semiquincentennial celebrations. It is scheduled to remain sealed for the next 250 years, with plans to open it in 2276 during America's 500th anniversary celebrations.

Apple’s foldable iPhone hype may run straight into a launch shortage

Apple’s first foldable iPhone may have a repeat of the iPhone X moment this fall. A new report from industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the rumored iPhone Ultra (foldable iPhone) could be announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but preorders and sales may arrive later because early production is expected to be extremely limited.

Kuo says Apple may build around 7 million to 8 million foldable iPhones in the second half of 2026. The problem is timing. Only 0.5 million to 1 million units are expected to be ready in the third quarter, which is when Apple usually prepares for its September iPhone launch. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, by comparison, are expected to have around 20 million to 22 million units ready in the same period.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro White

Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones this fall, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra. The iPhone 18 Pro Max was recently tipped to get a major battery boost, with one leak claiming a 5,235mAh battery for the physical SIM model and a 5,425mAh battery for the eSIM-only version.

Now, China’s 3C certification database (via Digital Chat Station) appears to show the actual battery capacities for both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Interestingly, the Pro Max numbers listed there are even larger than the earlier leak suggested.
