Mozilla finally adds a built-in ad blocker to Firefox on iOS

Firefox just caught up to Brave and Opera with a built-in iOS ad blocker.

Firefox users on iPhone finally get something Android and desktop users have enjoyed for a while: a real way to block ads without hunting down a separate extension for Firefox. Mozilla officially launched Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS today, after testing it over the past few weeks.

How the new ad blocker works on iOS

The feature relies on Apple’s WebKit Content Blocker technology paired with the EasyList filter, which is a community-maintained list that identifies known ad and tracker sources. That combination lets Firefox strip out most third-party ads and trackers before they even load, cutting down on clutter and saving you some bandwidth along the way. This is the latest move in Mozilla’s yearslong campaign against ad-based tracking.

However, you should also know what this feature can (and cannot) do. Ads served directly by the website itself will still show up, as will ads inside search results. Firefox’s own sponsored shortcuts on the new tab page are treated separately too, so don’t expect those to disappear.

How to turn on Firefox’s ad blocker on iOS?

You’ll need to turn this on yourself, since Mozilla is keeping it off by default. First, go to Settings, then Browsing, then Ad Blocker to enable it, or toggle it quickly from the site menu whenever you’re browsing.

The ad-blocker works alongside Firefox’s existing Enhanced Tracking Protection, giving iOS users two layers of privacy tools. Notably, Firefox is actually late to this particular party, since Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi already offer built-in ad blocking on their own iOS browsers.

Firefox 155 update: what else is new?

This rollout lands alongside Firefox 155, which brings a handful of other changes too. Smart Window, Mozilla’s AI-assisted browsing feature, is expanding to more users in the US, Canada, and France, picking up faster responses and smarter tab organization along the way.

Organize Tabs feature also got smarter. It now suggests better grouping for related tabs and gives each group a clear descriptive name. The update also adds a visible tracker count right in the address bar, plus a batch of smaller bug fixes across desktop and mobile.

WhatsApp may finally let you send that birthday message while you’re fast asleep
WhatsApp’s long-overdue scheduled messages could be rolling out soon
WhatsApp emoji reaction

The number of late-night birthday messages that I've missed cause I lost track of time or simply fell asleep is probably in the triple digits. But WhatsApp's upcoming update might be for someone like me. WhatsApp has started rolling out scheduled messages to a limited number of Android beta testers, months after the feature first appeared under development. The functionality is available in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.40.7, with WABetaInfo reporting that access should expand to additional testers over the coming weeks.

We already knew this was coming. Back in February 2026, we covered a report on WhatsApp developing scheduled messages. At that point, however, the feature wasn't actually available to testers. Now people can finally use it.

I love the sheer excess of the Vivo X Fold 6, while rivals go through an identity crisis
It is bold, unapologetic, and just a little ridiculous, which is precisely what makes it interesting
Vivo X Fold 6

Foldable smartphones have spent years asking buyers to make compromises. Want a bigger screen? Prepare for a smaller battery. Want flagship cameras? Be ready to carry something that feels like a camera with a phone attached. And if you want all of that without paying a small fortune, well, perhaps it is time to develop a new hobby.

The Vivo X Fold 6 has a rather different idea. With a 200MP primary camera, a 6,900mAh battery, flagship-grade hardware, and two expansive displays, Vivo wants its latest book-style foldable to be more than an expensive party trick.

Apple hid a cooling secret inside the iPhone Duo’s hinge, and it could keep your foldable from overheating
Apple turned the iPhone Duo’s hinge into a heat highway, and it’s pretty genius.
iPhone Duo

Apple’s new A20 Pro chip gives the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the iPhone Duo, Apple’s very first foldable arriving on October 23, Mac-level muscle. But more power means more heat, and taming it inside a phone that bends in half was a real headache for Apple’s engineers.

Speaking with PCMag, Banafsheh Barabadi, Apple’s senior manager of thermal product design, and Dan Murray, Apple’s vice president of silicon engineering, explained how the company pulled it off. The coolest part (pun intended) is tucked inside the iPhone Duo’s hinge.
