Looks like the OnePlus 3 is proving more popular than OnePlus anticipated. The company will be suspending sales of the device in both Europe and Hong Kong for a month starting on August 9 because it needs to “give inventory time to replenish.” The suspension will end on September 12.
Despite having a few issues at launch, inclusing some with RAM management, the handset is proving to be a hit.
“We were confident in the OnePlus 3 when it launched, but sales in mainland Europe have been way better than what we expected,” said Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, in a blog post.
The countries that will be affected by the suspension include the following: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. On top of that, sales will be suspended in Hong Kong.
According to OnePlus, the company will be working hard to secure more stock and ensure something like this won’t happen again. But this isn’t the first time that OnePlus has been plagued with stock issues. The company used an invitation system for the first two phones that it offered, but waitlists still quickly grew into the millions. That system was eventually ditched for the release of the OnePlus 3, but OnePlus is still clearly having problems keeping up with the demand for the phone.
If you live in Europe or Hong Kong and are planning on buying the device, you obviously have a few more days to do so before the sales suspension begins. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until after September 12. You will be able to sign up for in-stock notifications for the phone, which will notify you when the phone is back in stock and ready to buy.
