Samsung’s next wave of foldables may bring a charging upgrade that Galaxy users have been waiting on for years. Leaker Sonny Dickson has shared images of what are claimed to be dummy units for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, revealing circular rings on the back that suggest magnetic wireless charging support.

For now, this should be treated as an early leak rather than confirmation. Dummy units are usually made to show size, layout, and accessory fit, so they do not always reveal the final internal hardware. Still, the rings are notable because Samsung has so far taken a cautious approach to implementing the Qi2 wireless charging system. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 supported Qi2 Ready certification, but it required a compatible case with built-in magnets to use magnetic alignment properly.

Why the ring matters

Qi2 upgrades wireless charging with built-in magnetic alignment that helps phones lock into the correct position for a steady connection. It supports up to 15W charging with improved efficiency and reduced heat, and works with all Qi-certified devices.

Foldables stand to benefit more than most from this change. Their larger, unconventional shapes can make wireless charging pads tricky to use, and many users end up relying on cases, stands, or magnetic mounts. Built-in magnetic support would let Samsung’s foldables integrate more smoothly with the growing Qi2 accessory ecosystem, rather than depending on special cases.

A wider Fold joins the picture

The leak also gives another look at Samsung’s rumored three-model foldable lineup. Alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide appears shorter and broader, with a shape reportedly close to what Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to offer.

Samsung hasn’t shared any details about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series so far, leaving pricing, launch plans, and charging specs unknown. If these dummy models reflect the final product, the 2026 foldables might step past “Qi2 Ready” and introduce proper magnetic charging.

If you've ever been on vacation and chose to record video instead of taking photos only to avoid missing the fun moments, thinking you’d pause and take screenshots later, you might have ended up questioning your decision later.

You see, the process involves multiple steps, starting from hunting for the right frame, pausing, and taking a screenshot. If it doesn’t look good, you go back to the video, pause somewhere else, and try taking another screenshot. You see where I’m going with this?
