ShiftCam has made a name for itself by making some impressive vlogging and photography gear for smartphones. The LensUltra kit is a great example of that approach, while the ProGrip and SnapGrip have also won it some laurels. Now, at IFA 2024, the company is introducing a new SnapSeries line of accessories.

These new accessories fully embrace the versatility of Apple’s MagSafe tech, but add their own dash of hardware ingenuity. The flagship addition to the series is the new SnapGrip Pro, which bundles support for Qi2 wireless charging.

The company claims it can route 15-watt worth of wireless charging juice to the connected smartphone while simultaneously packing a battery that is 58% larger than the SnapGrip Classic. Available in Stone and Midnight colors, it offers niceties like a USB-C port with 20W PD output and a Bluetooth-linked physical shutter button.

However, the more intriguing addition to the portfolio is the SnapStudio Light, which blends a ring light with MagSafe and a clever detachable base mount. You can see it in action in the photo below.

When connected to a phone, the light enclosure can reach 440 lumens, but if you plug in a USB-C cable, the raw brightness figure reaches 600 lumens. Users also have the flexibility to adjust the light intensity and color temperature.

To go with its fresh lineup of vlogging and mobile photography kits, the company is also launching three new stands — the SnapStand Mini (8 inches tall), SnapStand Selfie (10 inches to 2.5 feet height range), and SnapStand Max (1.5 feet to 6 feet height range).

SnapSeries gear targets MagSafe-ready phones, including the Apple iPhone lineup. However, it will work just fine with any phone compatiblewith Qi2, which is essentially a faster Qi charging standard with the perk of magnetic position lock.

Unfortunately, there are hardly any phones out there that pack the necessary Qi2 magnetic hardware. For those devices, ShiftCam offers a magnetic ring accessory that you can stick to a phone’s rear shell to attach the SnapSeries accessories without any further hassle.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 review: I spent weeks testing it, and I don’t want to put this beauty down
It looks cute. It handles like a charm. But beyond that palm-friendly profile is a beast that you don't want to stop using.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldable smartphone

I've never used a foldable phone with as much fervor and daily joy as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. The first time I closed it and slipped it into my jeans, I did a small double-take, because it went in like a normal phone. That sounds trivial until you remember every Samsung foldable phone before it felt like carrying a TV remote in your pocket. Samsung has thrown out the tall, narrow shape that defined the line for years and replaced it with a wider, passport-style body, and the whole device is better for it. At 201 grams and 9.7 mm folded, it's among the lightest and thinnest book-style foldables you can buy. You really need to hold it in your hands to feel just how well put-together this device is.

I don’t care how thin the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is, and these two foldables show exactly why
The Razr Fold is thicker than Samsung’s latest, but I’d happily take the trade
Motorola Razr Fold vs Honor Magic V6 Featured

Every year, foldable manufacturers proudly shave another fraction of a millimeter from their newest phones. Samsung is a great example of this, building some of the sleekest flexible devices available in the market. Older foldables were chunky bricks, but the newer ones are now breaching regular flagship sizes.

After spending time with the Motorola Razr Fold and Honor Magic V6, then comparing them against Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 8, the hardware I appreciate most has very little to do with which device is the thinnest. What I'd rather trade an extra bit of width for is a useful hinge and a bigger battery.
