So get this, Apple is apparently working on putting real 5G satellite internet into future iPhones, maybe as early as 2026. We’re talking about the iPhone 18 Pro, the Pro Max, and maybe even that foldable iPhone everyone keeps whispering about.

This wouldn’t be like the satellite features we have now, which are just for sending emergency texts or finding your phone when you’re off-grid. Nope, this would be the real deal: full-speed internet beamed straight down from satellites, no matter where you are.

Picture this: you could be totally off-grid, miles from the nearest cell tower, and still browse the web or stream videos, no separate satellite dish needed like with Starlink.

Apple and SpaceX: friends or foes?

Now, this is where it gets interesting. Apple currently uses a company called Globalstar for its satellite stuff. But there are some serious rumblings that they might be cozying up to SpaceX.

Why? Well, SpaceX just started using the same kind of radio signals that Apple needs for this tech. At the same time, Globalstar seems a bit financially shaky, and there’s talk they might even sell the company. If Apple walks away, Globalstar could be in trouble.

So, the big question is: could Apple actually team up with Elon Musk’s SpaceX? They haven’t exactly been best buds in the past, but imagine Apple’s phones connecting directly to Starlink’s massive network of satellites. That would be huge.

Amazing connection, or just another bill?

If Apple actually pulls this off, it’s pretty wild to think about. True global connection, anywhere on the planet. Amazing for travelers, people living out in the sticks, or just having a backup during emergencies.

But wait – what’s the catch? Will our data be safe beaming through space? How much is this going to cost us every month? And are we really okay with cluttering up space with even more satellites?

It’s the classic Apple situation: are they about to change the world again, or just find a new way to get us hooked on another premium subscription? We’ll have to wait and see.
