The internet had a field day dunking on Facebook while it’s down

In case you haven’t noticed, Facebook is down. So are Instagram and WhatsApp. Fortunately, despite some talk of a potential Twitter outage, the site is still very much alive, at least as of this writing.

After restarting my Wi-Fi and then switching to data, I decided the problem wasn’t on my end and immediately went to Twitter, both to find out what was going on and to source some of the best dunks on Facebook for your viewing pleasure.

Unfortunately, no amount of money can keep Facebook down because the issue doesn’t seem to be related to a cyberattack. If the theories about DNS problems are true, then Facebook deleted itself.

But just in case it’s deleted for good, maybe we should start thinking about what will fill the Facebook-sized hole left in society, and in our hearts.

For all our gripes about Facebook, let’s not forget that MySpace actually had you rank your friends. That’s an evil villain move.

Until then, I’ll be on Twitter and continuing to find the best dunks for you. And if we’re very lucky, they’ll stay down forever and we’ll finally be free of all of these sites, but that may be too much to hope for.

Apple's iPhone 17 Pro felt like a substantial upgrade last year. After several generations of increasingly familiar Pro iPhones, last year's phone finally looked and behaved like Apple had reconsidered the hardware rather than simply refreshed it. The aluminum unibody was new, even if titanium seemed more premium.

The giant camera plateau gave Apple more internal space, vapor-chamber cooling finally arrived, battery life improved substantially, and all three rear cameras moved to 48MP sensors. Even the front camera got the genuinely useful Center Stage treatment. A year later, the iPhone 18 Pro dropped without any of the same momentum. Rather, all eyes are on the more premium iPhone Duo.

When I was at Computex earlier this year, I shot a lot of Reels using my DJI Osmo. And don't get me wrong: that little camera is excellent. The stabilization is great, the video quality is good, and it is exactly the kind of thing you want when you're running around a trade show trying to make content. Apparently, HONOR had the same thought. The difference is that while I just complained about it, HONOR went ahead and built a phone around the idea. The HONOR Robot Phone is, admittedly, doing a lot. It's a flagship Android phone, a miniature motorized camera gimbal, a robotic arm, and an AI playground all rolled into one. But after actually using it at IFA Berlin this year, I found myself caring far less about the novelty and far more about the camera. Because, honestly, this thing is really good.
