LG.Philips Cuts Price On 23′ LCD

Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), refusing to comment on the price cut, said prices of its 27- and 30-inch LCD TV panels are currently US$650 and US$980, respectively, according to the assistant vice president of CMO’s LCD TV division.

CMO has been dumping 20.1- and 30-inch LCD TV panels, sources said. Eddie Chen, company CFO and acting spokesperson, declined to comment on the speculation.

Japan-based Techno Systems Research (TSR) recently downwardly adjusted its 2004 global LCD TV demand forecast to 7.3 million units, from 8.5 million units, mainly due to lackluster demand in the North America market. The firm also revised its demand forecast for the North America market to 1.5 million units, down from 2.5 million.
