Land Rover Defender 110 + Qualcomm Snapdragon 820Am automotive platform

Pavi Dinamani, reporter for Digital Trends, talks with Don McGuire VP of Global Product Marketing Qualcomm and Peter Virk, Director Connected Car & Future Technology of Jaguar Land Rover. Listen in as we showcase the new brainy Land Rover Defender 110, powered by two Qualcomm Snapdragon 820Am Automotive Platforms, each with an integrated Snapdragon X12 modem.

The Land Rover Defender 110 is debuting the next generation connectivity technology for cars thanks to the collaboration with Snapdragon 820Am platform. Two LTE modems also achieve the most connected experience, one focused on entertainment, hotspots and Bluetooth, while the second modem lets you interact with your car even when you’re away from it, like unlocking your car or turning on the heat, remotely. The car is also always updatable, so no need to bring it in to the dealer and with no download interruptions, you can seamlessly move from your home or office to your car.

The dual modems further provide the best connectivity and bandwidth possible with antennas on the roof for the best coverage and you can have two phones connected at once. Qualcomm is the ideal partner for being on the forefront of technology. The two LTE modems are the most advanced technology for always being connected at this time, but in the future, as 5G gets deployed widely, Land Rover will adopt 5G. Another expansion of the Snapdragon 820Am platform into vehicles is that the dual connectivity uses very low power, which is key as cars become smarter and more connected. The Pivi Pro Navigation system is always on, always updatable, and always connected in real time which further brought our vision to life. You get the premium navigation with the latest traffic information, while listening to Spotify.

The Land Rover Defender is an iconic four-wheel drive off-road vehicle from the 80s with a new sleek modern look and improved performance. It has the world’s best connectivity technology, thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon 820Am, plus the best off-road capabilities, yet. The technology is the same in both models, but the 110 has more space inside with up to 7 seats, while the 90 is shorter with three doors. Visit www.landrover.com now to place your order.
