Update: It appears that the X outage affecting users in the US has been fixed. The number of service-related reports on Downdetector.com has come down from nearly twenty thousand to just over a hundred, as of 10:50 am PT. The official X Developer Platform Status page still notes that all services are working normally without any incident history in the past 24 hours. The original story follows:
Merely days after a Cloudflare disruption hit X, among a whole bunch of other websites, the platform is experiencing service outage once again. At the time of writing this article, thousands of users have reported that the app and website are malfunctioning for them.
We just checked the website and the mobile apps across Android and iOS, and the feed is failing to refresh. The issue is apparently localized to certain pockets, such as the US. In India, where this writer is currently based, features such as sharing a new post, sending a direct message, and checking the notifications feed are working just fine.
How big is the outage?
As of 10:45 ET, Downdetector has logged over 18,000 reports of the social media platform experiencing service disruption. At the time of writing this article, there were over 20,400 reports of X issues logged on Downdetector in the US alone.
Users are also experiencing disruption in the UK, Brazil, Canada, and Australia, but to an increasingly smaller extent compared to the US, as per the Downdetector database maintained by Ookla. Notably, the official X Developer Platform Status page says there are no ongoing issues, and all systems are operational.
Interestingly, Cloudflare’s system status page has also reported issues with Cloudflare Dashboard and related APIs. We will keep this page updated as soon as we hear from any X official on the reason behind this outage and if it has been resolved.
