Kobo readers have one less reading chore to worry about. A month after teasing StoryGraph support, Rakuten Kobo has finally released this feature to its users. That means your Kobo reading progress can now make its way over to StoryGraph without you lifting a finger.
The company first detailed the feature in a press release back in May. Now that it is live, your Kobo eReaders and apps can sync directly with your StoryGraph account. Any book you open will pop up on your StoryGraph “Currently Reading” shelf, your progress percentages will stay in step across both platforms, and finishing a book on your Kobo will automatically mark it as “Read” on StoryGraph.
What does the integration actually do for you?
As far as book tracking goes, StoryGraph is my personal favorite. It’s not only good at tracking books, but I generally find its recommendations better than Goodreads. The only issue with the app was that I had to manually add my books to it. Now that Kobo will automatically sync, that issue is no more.

The best part is that it covers both eBooks and audiobooks. So whether you are curled up with your Kobo device or listening your way through your reading goals, the sync has you covered.

Once everything is connected, StoryGraph puts that activity to good use, feeding it into your reading stats, recommendations, challenges, streaks, and book-club features.
How do you get it set up?
Getting started is simple. Sign in to your Kobo account on Kobo.com, head to Account Settings, choose Integrations, then pick StoryGraph and hit Connect. That’s it. Your progress will start syncing automatically.
Kindle has quietly enjoyed Goodreads integration for years as one of its understated perks, even if Goodreads is not everyone’s cup of tea. Now, Kobo users can finally enjoy the same feature, albeit on a different platform.

StoryGraph has slowly emerged as a Goodreads alternative for book readers, and automatic Kobo syncing means you get all those juicy insights without having to remember to update yet another app every time you turn a page.
