The Moto Pad 2026 might just be the best budget tablet you can buy

Motorola just made it really hard to justify spending more on a tablet.

Motorola has been quietly making some of the best budget phones for years. Now, it’s bringing that same philosophy to tablets with the new Moto Pad 2026, and at $249, it might be the most value for money tablet you can buy right now.

Is this the budget tablet students have been waiting for?

Despite its affordable price, the Moto Pad is wrapped in an all-metal design with rounded edges and seems far more premium than its price tag suggests.

It features an 11-inch 2.5K display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which means scrolling should feel smooth and content looks sharp. Whether you’re reading textbooks, watching lectures, or pulling up notes during class, the screen should keep up with all your demands.

The quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support genuinely impressed me on paper. At this price, you generally see a dual-speaker setup, so this is a nice surprise. The combination of a high-resolution display and quad speakers makes it a good tablet for entertainment.

The tablet also features a large 7,040mAh battery, which can deliver up to 12 hours of streaming on a single charge. On paper, the tablet has nailed the basics, and at its price, it seems like a dream device for students and kids.

What about power and connectivity?

The Moto Pad runs on a MediaTek D6300 5G chip, which means you are not always dependent on Wi-Fi. If you’re a student or someone constantly on the move, having built-in 5G connectivity is a genuine advantage.

You can directly get 5G connectivity on the tablet and don’t need to tether to your phone to access the internet. Using your phone as a hotspot is one of the most battery-draining activities you can perform. So Moto Pad’s 5G feature not only makes online use easier, but it also saves battery on your phone.

The Moto Pad 2026 goes on sale April 30 through T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile, with a price of $249.99 on Motorola.com. For a 5G tablet at this price, it’s hard to find a reason to look elsewhere.

Screens before age two may come with serious developmental risks, study warns
Using a phone or a tablet to keep your baby occupied is not a good idea.

Screens have become the digital pacifier for many babies. Phones and tablets are used during feeding, bedtime, chores, and moments when parents need a break. A major new study now warns that regular screen use before age two may carry developmental risks.

Researchers from four UK universities say babies and toddlers under two should avoid regular intentional screen time. The review links higher screen exposure in the first two years with sleep problems, language delays, behavioural difficulties, obesity risk, short-sightedness, and later problems with friendships and social interactions.
