Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 865, which is aimed at offering improved performance across all areas. In particular, the new chipset offers improved A.I. performance, and even offers support for 8K video. The new chipset will be available on smartphones in the first quarter of 2020.

Phone maker Xiaomi has confirmed the Xiaomi Mi 10 phone will be one of the first to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, while Nokia, Oppo, and Motorola have also said new phones with the chip will be out in 2020. It's not just the processor that makes these desirable, it's that all will have 5G too.

Almost exactly a year after the launch of the Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm took the wraps off of its next-generation mobile platform, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. The new chip puts an emphasis on A.I. performance, 5G, and computer vision, while naturally increasing performance and efficiency.
