The newest Armored Core game made by From Software will be the 14th iteration of an Armored Core game, however, it will only be the fifth title in the main series. Armored Core V will feature some interesting changes to the gameplay. For one From Software is pushing players to rely more on tactics and geography than high-speed finger work. Another is that the mechs are being halved from 10 meters tall to five meters tall. From Software claims that the reduction in size will allow for more varied 3D stages.
The multiplayer mode features 5-on-5 team-based battles with players battling over specific objectives. One interesting part is that one member of the team is designated as an “Operator” who oversees the larger battles and issues orders to team members. There are also 2-on-2 and 1-on-1 battle capabilities. The trailer above shows off some of the “Operator” capabilities and the gameplay for the mechs.
Armored Core V will be on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 20 in North America – if you need it really early Japan gets the game on January 26.
