We’ve known Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 was coming ever since the title was announced last June at E3 2012. Although a few eerily gorgeous trailers trickled out last year, most notably the one from the VGA’s, we haven’t seen too much of the game until now. However, it appears the good folks at Konami want to get a head start on the game-trailer fanfare that’s about to ensue at E3 2013.
Today, the company announced the newest Castlevania installment will hit shelves this winter on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. They even showed off an epic, 6-minute sprawling trailer, featuring the returning voices of Patrick Steward as Zobek and Robert Carlyle as the immortal Gabriel Belmont, who now exists in his role as the fabled Dracula. It picks up where the first game in the rebooted saga left off, with a downtrodden and weakened Dracula, who is promised an end to his immortality.
The dramatic video introduces new characters, weapons, environments, and shows off some of the new Mercury Engine, which at first glance is impressive. Lords of Shadows 2 will also mostly shy away from the medieval settings of the franchise’s past, opting for modern open-world gameplay with diminished loading times. Rest assured though, you’ll still spend plenty of time hacking your way through forgotten castles and waiting through loading screens.
Be sure to stick around next week for all of our E3 2013 coverage.
