Home values are still in the tank due to the recent recession, and home owners are looking to do something to help bring them back up again. Plus, folks have really embraced the idea of the stay-cation. As a result, people with good cash flow and an itch for home improvement are turning to their back yards. But they aren’t just planting some shrubs and adding a water feature, they are putting in full-on entertainment spaces with outdoor kitchens, wood-fired ovens, outdoor theaters with big-screen TVs and upscale audio systems.
The best seat in the house isn’t going to be in the house anymore. No more hiding in the man-cave during football games. The party is headed outside now. Even in less-than-warm weather, we’re seeing outdoor heating systems making things comfy so that folks can entertain in their outdoor spaces year-round.
What we saw at CEDIA this year bears that out. Next to all the walls of massive speakers, motorized shades and home automation systems, we saw outdoor TVs, outdoor speakers, outdoor appliances and more. Check out our video above for a look at some of the new outdoor gear we saw this year.
