Oren Peli is mostly known as the writer of the Paranormal Activity series. This year, he’s started to branch out a bit with four new properties coming out during 2012.
The first one that will hit is his new horror film, Chernobyl Diaries. The film follows a group of young American tourists traveling around Europe. They decide to go off beaten path and hire an “extreme tour guide” to help them along the way. Ignoring warnings, the guide takes them to Pripyat, the former city that the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor lived in. Now the city is abandoned, left alone since the accident 25 years ago. However, after a brief exploration of the city the group finds themselves stranded — and that they aren’t alone.
Chernobyl Diaries is slated to hit theaters starting on May 25.
