Cyberpunk gets a 21st century revival in Cyberpunk 2077

If you’re a fan of futuristic dystopian RPG’s like we are, check out this fresh new reveal trailer for Cyberpunk 2077.

If the name sounds vaguely familiar, you may have played the original Cyberpunk – a pen-and-paper RPG that was wildly popular back in the 80’s. Cyberpunk 2077 is a modern adaptation of the original.

The video reveals a lot, but for those of you unacquainted with the Cyberpunk universe, here’s a quick overview to get you up to speed:

Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a futuristic, dystopian, technology-saturated world in which modern science has been bastardized, and is now used (mostly) for nefarious purposes. In 2077, humans have the ability to modify themselves with artificial parts, and although she looks like a robot, the woman you see in the trailer is actually a heavily-augmented human.

But here’s the catch: extensive modifications tend to make people go crazy. As their organic parts clash with their artificial ones, augmented people are prone to psychotic breakdowns that often turn violent – hence all the dead people around her.

Its a fairly rich and detailed universe, so we won’t try to explain it all here. If you want to learn more, check out Cyberpunk’s website. Oh, and that sweet song that’s playing? Its Bullets by a British band called Archive.
