The world of Assassin’s Creed 3 is supposed to be several times larger than the cities that Ezio inhabited in Renaissance Italy and later Turkey. Instead of being limited to large cities, the new assassin, Connor, explores both the frontier and the bustling colonial towns of revolutionary America.
During the Ubisoft E3 press conference, the international developer showed off Connor’s ability to quickly traverse the wilderness as well as camps and fortresses. Another new wrinkle in Connor’s journey is that nature can and will attack him. From wolves to bears, there’s more to worry about than just the British or American forces.
The above demo reel shows Connor dealing with locals and soldiers in an American camp before sneaking into a British fort and taking out a target. With the move from metropolitan areas, it was important to see if Ubisoft could keep the same parkour-style of movement while moving through forests. So far it looks like they’ve succeeded, but it remains to be seen if it holds up over an entire game.
Assassin’s Creed 3 comes out on October 30 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
