E3 2012: Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation announcement trailer

Most of the Assassin’s Creed games have been connected to the same story line, but the PlayStation Vita Asssassin’s Creed: Liberation is flipping the script quite a bit. In a first for the series, Liberation will feature a female assassin as the protagonist and instead of taking place in Northeastern portion America, Liberation drops players into 18th century New Orleans, Louisana.

Aveline de Grandpre, the assassin, is quite different from the boys (beyond being female). Aveline doesn’t sport the characteristic cowl that Connor, Ezio, and Altair are known for. However, like Connor, Aveline appears to be of mixed ethnicities, a nice touch to the culture lodestones of Louisana’s heritage.

Sony confirmed that players with linked saved files could unlock content in Liberation and AC3 but there doesn’t appear to be much more “Cross Play” content than that. The world’s of Aveline and Connor might never link up, which is an interesting decision on Ubisoft’s part.

Look for Assassin’s Creed: Liberation on October 30 when it comes bundled with the white PS Vita or in stand-alone.
