Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – Alpha crossover

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – Alpha crossover

Have you ever wondered what a Ghost Recon movie would look like? You could argue that the recent action flick starring real-life Navy SEALs, Act of Valor, was pretty close, but Ubisoft is taking the matter into its own hands with the upcoming Ghost Recon Alpha

Produced by Ubisoft and Little Minx — a company that is under Ridley Scott & Associates — Ghost Recon Alpha will premiere May 3 on the cable channel G4 as part of X-Play. The short film follows a team of “Ghosts” as they attempt to eliminate one of the world’s most feared war criminals.

The plot of Alpha is heavily tied into the story of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. In fact, the ending of the movie will also be the beginning of the game. In the video, creative director Tommy Jacobs  says that his location is a hint to where the “Ghosts” journey will take them. If you didn’t recognize any of the landmarks, Jacobs is in London, England.

Although this is just a short video, it may also be a hint at the future. Ubisoft has made a huge investment in adapting its own properties, and created a department specifically to bring its IPs to the big screen. The developer and soon-to-be producer is currently working with Sony to create an Assassin’s Creed film, and if it does well, you can expect all of Ubisoft’s titles to at least be considered for adaptation.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launches on May 22 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 but PC gamers will have to wait until June 12.
