We briefly spent some time with Toshiba’s new glasses-free 3D laptop: the Qosmio F755. This is probably the best glasses-free 3D we’ve seen and lets you watch a 3D movie in one window while performing 2D tasks elsewhere. Most interesting, however, is the eye tracking technology, which follows the position of your eyes and adjust the 3D to follow you on the fly. This technique worked surprisingly well, with only a second or so of lag and an impressive amount of depth to the image. Even if you’re not into 3D, the upside of having the technology embedded is that the screen is bright and gorgeous even when it’s off.
This video isn’t able to capture the actual 3D, but if you look in the upper left, you can see the laptop tracking the location of my eyes. I moved all around and once it had a lock on me, it didn’t seem to let go.
The Qosmio F755 has a 15.6-inch display and will retail for $1700. If you have the cash to spend on a high-end laptop and like impressing your friends, check this guy out.
