Dax Shepard has been working away from comedy for the last couple of years with turns in the show Parenthood and smaller roles in indie films. This isn’t to say that Hit and Run (which he wrote and directed with David Palmer) isn’t a comedy, but it’s a little more serious than you may be used to with Shepard.
Hit and Run follows Shepard as Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver in a Witness Protection Program. He leaves the program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles so she can land a dream job. However, things get awkward and dangerous when they start getting chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold) and Charlie’s former gang (led by Bradley Cooper).
A couple of other faces worth noting include Beau Bridges, Kristin Chenoweth, and Michael Rosenbaum, who’s mostly been doing animated work more recently.
Hit and Run hits theaters this summer on August 24.
