Perhaps you noticed that the trailer for I’m Glad my Mother is Alive is in French and comes with subtitles. That’s on purpose, I assure you. It’s a foreign film from the father-son team of Claude and Nathan Miller. Vincent Rottiers stars as a troubled young man who lives with his adoptive mother (Christine Citti) and becomes obsessed with finding his biological mother (Sophie Cattani). After years of searching he finds her and begins a strange relationship with her that leads him to madness. It opened in France in 2009 and saw some limited releases at various festivals in New York and Los Angeles. I’m Glad my Mother is Alive will see more widespread release in the U.S. on September 2, 2011.
