If you’re looking for a snippet of plot description for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning in the above trailer than you’ll be very disappointed. However, if you’d like some information on how you build characters in the game then this trailer is for you.
Some RPG elements are apparent in the latest game from Ken Rolston (lead designer for Morrowind and Oblivion). You level up characters based on trees of powers with the expected fantasy elements of might, finesse and sorcery. There are also “Destiny” cards which help determine your character’s path with new powers and skill sets. NPCs called “Fateweavers” allow players to reset their skill trees for a fee. There are also “Twists of Fate” cards that kind of do the same thing.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is being described as a marriage of God of War (the third-person brawling aspect) and Oblivion (the RPG and Fantasy elements). The plot of the game was crafted by Forgotten Realms author and creator of Drizzt Do’Urden R.A. Salvatore.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2012.
