With the latest iteration in EA’s NHL franchise, NHL 13, EA focused on the under-the-engine aspects of the game. Specifically, the AI for defenders and goalies has been revamped for more reactive goalies and defense.
What’s really gotten a makeover though, is the skating and animation. EA says that they’ve added more than 1,000 new gameplay animations that replicate the explosiveness, momentum, and top-end speed of NHL players. These new animations are supposed to add more control for players and new tools via the Skill Stick.
Unfortunately, EA hasn’t released much information on the changes to other aspects of the game, but their site says that more information will be released in August about a month before the game launches in September.
