Once Upon a Time in Anatolia is Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s sixth full length film. If you’re a follower of foreign or Turkish films you might recognize him from his films Three Monkeys, Climates and Distant.
The film does have subtitles and was filmed in the Turkish countryside. It’s a crime-thriller about a group of men who set out in to the Anatolian Steppes to find a dead body.
Ceylan’s film has made its way around various European film festivals including the Cannes festival. It’s made one showing in New York at a film festival there but no where else really. Keep an eye out for a possible return to the States or if it makes its way to DVD or maybe even Netflix.
