The PS4’s lead architect talks about when the system will hit its stride

For four decades, Mark Cerny has been involved in gaming at one level or another. From programmer to designer to director, he has seen the gaming industry from angles few others have. It has all culminated with him taking the lead on designing the PlayStation 4.

The process took nearly six years in total. From the early concept designs to the actual hardware decisions, it has been a long process. And although the system is finally out this week, the process continues.

We had a chance to speak with Cerny in New York at a recent PlayStation event about his favorite features of the PS4, the developer response, and the potential lifespan of the system.
