If you’re getting déjà vu looking at Samsung’s Galaxy Beam projector phone, you’re not crazy: The company came out with an identically named model back in 2010, but it was more a roadside attraction than a practical device. This year’s Galaxy Beam could also be doomed to since into obscurity, but from what we’ve seen so far, it’s fairly impressive. The 15-lumen DLP projector can throw an image up to 50 inches across, lasts for three hours with the projector on, and the phone is barely any thicker than an ordinary smartphone for it. Check out the video above for a hands-on look at how it works in a well-lit room. We weren’t able to shoot in Samsung’s darkened demo room, but rest assured it looks much, much better when you drop the lights.
