In Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Fifth Freedom isn’t free! And Sam Fisher isn’t selling

Sam Fischer is back, and if this is the first time you’ve heard, dont feel bad — he’s a sneaky bastard. We spotted him at this year’s E3, but ever since then he’s been hiding in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike. Today, he’s back in the spotlight breaking necks and cutting jugulars.

This new trailer gives us a bit of insight into the game’s plot, which revolves around a younger Fischer being granted the “fifth freedom” — essentially the right to ignore all laws and kick anybody’s ass in the name of national security. The clip is definitely action-packed, which might worry fans who enjoyed the game’s stealth aspects, but don’t worry — other trailers we’ve seen have reassured us that Blacklist will be just as stealthy as ever.

Ubisoft is set to release Splinter Cell: Blacklist sometime in the Spring of 2013, but hasn’t yet announced an official date.
