Starhawk is the spiritual successor to Sony’s previous online war title Warhawk. It’s being developed by Sony’s Santa Monica Studio and LightBox Interactive.
The game is interesting because it mixes third-person action shooters and real-time strategy elements. The battlefield can be changed by dropping buildings, walls and defensive or offensive placements. It’s an interesting mix of gameplay. Fight on foot or in vehicles from the land or air. There are also online components that can field up to 32 players.
Starhawk‘s plot follows the war over the Rift Energy resource. Different factions battle across planets to gain control of the resources.
Starhawk will be out on Playstation 3 starting May 8.
