The first Starhawk trailer that we showed featured a mish-mash of gameplay elements with a focus on defending a base. Today’s trailer breaks it down a bit and focuses solely on some of the vehicles that players will be able to purchase or commandeer in order to take on their enemies.
There’s a mix of solo vehicles (like the Sidewinder jetbike) and vehicles that allow for two or more players. The one featured here is reminiscent of a mixture between an ATV and Halo’s Warthog, and of course, what would any war game be without a tank? The air-based vehicles might be even more intense with mechs like the Hawk.
Starhawk is a spiritual successor to Sony’s Warhawk, and is being developed by Santa Monica Studio and LightBox Interactive. The game’s plot is about a war in the future over the incredibly powerful but equally dangerous Rift Energy resource. Different factions battle across planets to gain control of the resource, including an infected Outcast and his brother fighting to gain a place in the galaxy.
Starhawk will be out on Playstation 3 starting May 8.
