Tera is an upcoming fantasy MMORPG from En Masse Entertainment. They’re doing a lot to try and make themselves standout from other MMOs like World of Warcraft.
One of the more interesting takes they’ve got going is their political system. Players can be elected as the head of their faction (there are six in the game).
Players can start guild, raise their levels, raid dungeons and earn points. This is all standard fare but using the guild players can rise to power in the game as the leader of their faction through battles or popular vote. You can campaign in the game or on social network sites.
Once you’re in charge you can’t just rest on your laurels. You have to do special leader quests to earn the resources needed to open shops, maintain the district and make changes. If you don’t have proper support someone else can take the leadership role away from you.
This could be a very interesting experiment if nothing else. Keep an eye out for this one.
We haven’t seen a release date but it’s slated for 2012 and so far will only be available on PC.
