The Iron Lady is a biopic depicting the rise of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the United Kingdom’s first and only female Prime Minister. Thatcher is one of the more controversial leaders in England’s history. This stems not only from her breaking of the gender barrier but also because of several of her economic and foreign affairs decisions. Included among these is her decision to go to war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands.
Come February 2012 you’ll most likely see Meryl Streep up for an Oscar based on this performance.
The Iron Lady will be in theaters on December 30.
