Pagani Automobili explores the inspiration for the Huayra super car

After more than decade of producing the Pagani Zonda and its various iterations the Italian manufacturer will be moving on to its new super sports car — the Pagani Huayra.

The above video explains Horacio Pagani’s inspiration for the new car — and explains how to pronounce the name, we suggest trying “why-rah” — which includes wind and air. Specifically, he wanted to see those elements articulated in the actual look of the car and not just in reference to aerodynamics.

The video also explains some of the many features of the car; from safety features to the dashboard and engine.

Some highlights of the Huayra include the M158 twin-turbo 6.0-litre V12 engine which comes from Mercedes’ AMG division. The engine is supposed to be capable of producing 720 horsepower and 1,000 lbs of torque. The top speed of the car is set at 235 mph with a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds. According to Pagani, the company will only be making 40 Huayras per year and each car will sell for a base of £1,000,000 (roughly $1,585,000).
