The Dinobots have always been some of the cooler morphing robots in the Transformers universe since their introduction back in 1984. It’s most likely because it meshes two things that kids love (dinosaurs and butt-kicking robots) into one uber-beast of fun. That and a metallic dinosaur that can turn into a sword wielding humanoid robot is all kinds of awesome to an impressionable youth.
So it should come as no surprise that fans are excited to know that Grimlock is one of the playable characters in Activision and High Moon Studios’ Tranformers: Fall of Cybertron. Really, who doesn’t want to play as a giant brawling robot that just happens to be able to turn into a flame-spitting T-rex? No one, that’s who.
As you can see in the video, Grimlock is a melee character. This autobot is meant to brawl, and he comes with a sword and shield just for that. To get to the T-Rex mode, you’ll have to build up his rage meter by beating down Decepticon enemies. Once it’s full Grimlock can go full dinosaur, which comes with special moves of its own. While we like the flame-throwing ability, our personal favorite is his chomp move which bites enemies in half.
Grimlock terrorizes Decepticons in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron starting August 28 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
As a side note: The Transformers Facebook page has some character art for a bunch of Dinobots. If you’re a fan, we’d recommend a look.
