Prime Day spread quickly to other brick-and-mortar and online retail stores — even if the other merchants didn’t call it by the same name. There’s no question Black Friday is a huge sales event, but it doesn’t always have the lowest prices of the year, for a variety of reasons.
The reality of supply chain disruptions and shipping challenges helped to change many people’s thinking about holding out for Black Friday prices. The timing works well for people who don’t want the best price but don’t want to lose out on the chance to get a great deal by waiting for Black Friday only to find their desired purchase is sold out or not discounted due to sparse inventories. If you see a great deal on a Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 3 or Versa 4, or Fitbit Inspire 3, buy it. Then, other than checking that your shipment contains what you ordered, don’t unpack, open, or use the device while you wait for Black Friday. If you see the same item at a lower price during Black Friday, you may be able to take advantage of Amazon’s extended holiday return window for items purchased after October 1. The extended holiday return policy introduced in 2021 gave shoppers until January 31, 2022, to return items delivered no earlier than October 1 or later than December 31. If that policy continues in 2022, you could purchase a second item during the Black Friday sale at a lower price and immediately initiate a return of your original purchase.
