Apple

What’s happened? Apple is hosting a new Apple Watch Activity Challenge in a few days, but it won’t ask you to embark on a running expedition or record a workout for a few minutes.

  • The “Mindful Month” Apple Watch Activity Challenge will take place this Friday, October 10, 2025 (via MacRumors), celebrated as World Mental Health Day.
  • Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to record a 10-minute (or longer) mindfulness or meditation session using a compatible app that shares the data with Apple Health.

Why is this important? This is not the first time that Apple has held a Mindful Month challenge; a similar challenge was held in October 2024. This signifies the evolution of Apple’s health ecosystem beyond physical activities.

  • The Mindful Month Apple Watch Activity Challenge is an initiative aimed at raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
  • It also serves as an incentive for users to adopt wellness habits along with exclusive perks that they can share with others.
  • While Google’s Pixel Watches already have Fitbit’s mindfulness features, the latest Galaxy Watch 8 also includes a mindfulness tracker.

Why should I care? Similar past challenges include the National Parks Challenge (a minimum 20-minute workout) and Global Running Day (a minimum five-kilometer running workout).

  • You can take the Mindful Month activity challenge as an opportunity to monitor your mental well-being and incorporate healthy (and easy-to-follow) habits into your daily routine.
  • Once you complete the activity challenge, you’ll earn a special digital trophy and stickers, which you can use in the Messages app.

OK, what’s next? The Apple Watch offers a built-in Mindfulness app (watchOS 8 or newer) that provides guided breathing exercises with customizable durations.

  • You can also log your State of Mind or take the Mental Health Questionnaire.
  • Furthermore, you can also use dedicated meditation apps, such as Calm or Headspace.

Google’s Stephen Curry Pixel Watch 5 is an expensive affair that ends at the strap
Google wants €31 extra for a Pixel Watch band that eventually gives up
Stephen Curry Pixel Watch 5

Google's upcoming Pixel Watch 5 Stephen Curry Special Edition is shaping up to be a fairly straightforward Pixel Watch 5 with a more distinctive strap and a roughly $35 premium. The bigger question is whether the extra cost gets you anything that will actually last.

According to leaked Google marketing material obtained by MyMobiles, the special edition will cost €579.99 in Europe. It is based on the 45mm LTE Pixel Watch 5, making it the most expensive standard configuration in the lineup. The regular 45mm LTE model is expected to cost €549, putting the Curry edition about €31 more expensive.

Wireless peripherals are better than ever, but I’m starting to value the devices that ask absolutely nothing of me
Computer, Computer Hardware, Computer Keyboard

I have two pairs of wireless earbuds that I rotate during long gaming sessions. When one starts complaining about its battery, I swap in the other pair and put the first one on charge. It’s a mildly ridiculous system, but it works. Apparently, my gaming setup now requires something resembling shift work.

Then my mouse died in the middle of a game.

The Pixel 11 is almost here, but I’m more excited about what could come with it
Maroon, Text

It’s August, which means one thing if you follow smartphones even remotely closely: new Pixels are almost here. Google is holding its next Made by Google event on August 12, and this year, we’re expecting another packed lineup of phones. The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold are all expected to take the stage. Yes, that’s the same four-phone lineup Google gave us last year, but the interesting part will obviously be what’s changing underneath. Between the usual camera improvements, new hardware, and whatever AI tricks Google has been cooking up, there should be plenty to talk about.

And the phones may only be part of the story. Google is expected to have a few more announcements up its sleeve, making this one of its biggest hardware events of the year. So, if you’re planning to tune in, here’s when the Made by Google event starts, how you can watch it, and everything we expect Google to announce.
