T-Mobile's latest offer can net new subscribers a free iPhone if they switch carriers

T-Mobile’s aggressive marketing and promotion tactics have been paying dividends for the carrier, and its latest deal is one of its most compelling yet. Customers who port their number to T-Mobile are eligible for a free iPhone 7 or a 7 Plus for just $100, following trade-in of a qualifying device and a rebate, the company announced Friday.

Customers will need to sign up for T-Mobile’s recently improved One plan at a retail store, at which point they can receive their iPhone at a reduced down payment, with credit from their previous smartphone. After online registration, they’ll get a prepaid MasterCard in the mail within six to eight weeks, which can in turn be applied to the remaining cost of the 24-month finance agreement.

The offer is good for up to 12 iPhones — ideal for a family or small business looking to make a switch. It lasts until March 16.

If you are interested in snagging multiple iPhones at a greatly reduced cost, the promotion can be combined with the carrier’s other recent deals. Earlier this week, T-Mobile began allowing accounts with at least two lines to add another at no extra cost. The carrier was already handing out two lines for the monthly rate of $100, a discount from the typical $120. Put all of that together, and a new customer could potentially open three lines for $100 a month, saving $40, with free iPhones on every one.

The discounted iPhones are, not surprisingly, of the 64GB variety, and T-Mobile will offer the 128GB and 256GB models for an extra $100 and $200, respectively. Also, for the moment, T-Mobile has restricted eligible trade-ins to Apple and Samsung phones exclusively. Currently, all iPhone 6, 6S, and 7 devices, along with all variants of the Galaxy S7, including the S7 Active, are eligible for the deal. As this promotion requires instant trade-in, you’ll need to visit a brick-and-mortar location — online orders are not supported.

Finally, it’s important to note the free iPhone program is excluded from T-Mobile’s Carrier Freedom early termination fee reimbursement, which pays the penalty incurred by new customers who skip out on their current contract and port their existing number.

One of the most iconic iPhone accessories is back — and it’s great
Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 15 Pro.

In the early days of the iPhone, one of the most popular accessories was the Mophie Juice Pack battery case. This was one of the first and original battery cases for the iPhone that would extend the battery life of your phone to help you get through the day. It was essential when traveling, as you’d likely go through your iPhone’s battery much faster and might not be near an outlet.

The Mophie Juice Pack became a staple for many people and spawned numerous copycats, but once Apple introduced MagSafe with the iPhone 12 line, it seemed like the need for battery cases dissipated. In fact, it has been a few years since Mophie last released a Juice Pack case for the iPhone. But the Mophie Juice Pack has finally returned, and it’s currently available for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Are you having iPhone alarm problems? A fix is coming soon
A person holding the Apple iPhone 15 Plus.

If you’ve slept through an important meeting or missed your alarm lately, it may not be entirely your fault if you’re an iPhone user. For weeks now, iPhone users have been reporting on social media that their devices are no longer ringing.

Today, The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern finally confirmed this. According to Stern, Apple has confirmed that it’s aware of the issue causing some alarms not to play a sound and is working on a fix.
iPhone alarm issues explained
The iPhone alarm problem seems to be tied to Apple’s Attention Aware features. For those unfamiliar, it’s a feature that lowers the volume sound of your alerts and alarms if you’re looking at your device and avoids dimming the screen, similar to how Samsung phones keep the screen on if they see you looking at your screen.

Nomad’s new iPhone case and Apple Watch band may be its coolest yet
Nomad Glow 2.0 Sport Case and Apple Watch Sport Band in daylight.

Though the world of Apple accessories is a dime a dozen, one of the better brands that you can buy is Nomad. Nomad has a variety of amazing leather Apple Watch bands and cases, as well as non-leather options, too. In August 2023, Nomad released a one-of-a-kind Glow in the Dark Apple Watch band that sold out in about 12 hours.

Since that Glow in the Dark band was a limited edition, no one was sure if Nomad was going to re-release it, and this explains the high resale prices you’ll find on eBay. But Nomad just released the Glow 2.0 Apple Watch Sport Band as well as a new Glow 2.0 Sport Case for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. And, yes, they're just as wonderful as before.
