The Microsoft Surface Pro 6, a personal favorite 2-in-1 laptop of ours here at Digital Trends, is a dynamic device that holds its own against even the best 2-in-1 laptop/tablets on the market, often at more attractive prices. Amazon recently slashed prices on the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop, but Best Buy is offering an even bigger bang for your buck. Today only, score your Microsoft Surface Pro 6 for only $700 (down from $900).

Gone are the days when Microsoft’s most popular products were software. A slew of top-notch hardware released in recent years, led by the Surface Pro series, has kept Microsoft in the top ranks of the tech world. The Surface Pro 6, the company’s crown jewel, boasts a sleek, sturdy construction, a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen display, and an array of facets and features that make it a perfect tablet or 2-in-1 tool for both amateur and professional purposes.

A favorite selling point of the Surface Pro 6 is the convenience and compatibility that comes with the iconic Windows 10 operating system, offering more flexibility than its iOS or Android counterparts. Beyond that, the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is powered by Intel’s 8th-generation Core i5 processor, enabling a smoothness and speed that even the most ardent acolytes of rival Apple will have to appreciate.

One downside of the Surface Pro 6, however, is its standalone ability as a tablet. While powerful, the Surface Pro 6 lags behind other tablets like the iPad in some key areas. Luckily, Best Buy is also currently offering the Microsoft Surface Pro Type Cover at a discounted $95 (down from $130). Transform your tablet into a true 2-in-1 laptop with this lightweight keyboard that doubles as a folding case. A less necessary, but still intriguing, accessory is the Surface Pen (now $68, down from $100), which enables writing and drawing with precision ink on one end, and erasure on the other.

Did you think hitting delete on your AI chatbot conversation actually makes it disappear? Georgia Tech researchers just proved that's not entirely true. They have built a forensic tool called ORISA that can dig deleted conversations from your phone and even rebuild them into a working chatbot session you can keep talking to.

Apple’s “Pro and Tell” October 28 event: Everything we expect from touchscreen MacBooks to a new iMac
Prepare for a touchscreen MacBook that costs around $3,000.
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

Touchscreen laptops have been around for years. You can get them in all sizes and shapes. Just not from Apple. For years, the Cupertino giant has treated the idea of a touchscreen MacBook the way I treat a meeting that could have been an email: with open contempt. However, Wednesday looks like the day the company could finally change its mind.

The latest Apple invite puts the “Pro and Tell” showcase in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET) on October 28, 2026. Instead of a regular live-streamed keynote, it is an invitation-only, hands-on event for a handful of press and creators (similar to what the company did for the MacBook Neo earlier this year).

Those cute delivery robots could be the new Flock surveillance menace
Dinner is served, but who asked for a biometric scan?
Food delivery robots

Two residents of Chicago have filed a lawsuit in the US over claims that robots run by Coco Robotics and Serve Robotics captured their facial and hand measurements without consent, bringing renewed attention to the food delivery robots. The cases raise a troubling question: If a robot delivers food to your door, can it also be gathering sensitive information about you?

According to a report by The Associated Press, the proposed class-action lawsuits were filed in Cook County on Oct. 9 and allege violations of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act. The complaints claim that the robots’ cameras and LiDAR sensors captured information on customers’ faces and hands as they approached the machines to pick up their orders. Both have denied the allegations.
